Trick #1 Eat with your non-dominant hand. Sounds so weird I know, but it works! Eating with your opposite hand will slow you down, therefore you eat less! It takes about 20 minutes for our brains to realize we are full. So the extra time wrangling with that fork will keep you from eating too many calories.

Trick #2 Add more blue to your life. Believe it or not, the color blue acts as an appetite suppressant. Eat your dinner on blue plates, dress in blue while you eat, and cover your table with a blue tablecloth. Stay away from the colors red, yellow, and orange in your dining areas. Studies find these colors make you want to eat more.

Trick #3 Watch 1 less hour of television. A study of 76 undergraduate students found the more they watched television, the more often they ate and the more they ate overall. Sacrifice one program (there’s probably one you don’t really want to watch anyway) and go for a walk instead. Plus watching less television means seeing less food commercials–which make you hungry!
